Extra Curricular Activities

Guitar Lessons

This course is divided into two categories;
1 Learning with music theory - classical guitar
2 Learning without music theory (with the help of tablature) - pop/rock guitar

1. Learning with music theory - classical guitar:

The student will be required to read and interpret scores. The teaching style will be rather "classic". Students will be introduced to music theory at the same time as learning how to play the guitar.
Some big names in classical guitar: Julian Bream, John Williams, Ana Vidovic ...

2. Learning without music theory (with the help of tablature) - pop/rock guitar

Students will learn the guitar with the help of tabs. The goal is to play songs through series of chords. The more advanced student will also engage in guitar solos. The style of music that will be discussed and played will be popular music: pop / rock / blues / modern music / r & b ...

Music Education Laboratory & Violin

The introductory music education is an active learning experience teaching elementary structures of music through play, exploration, composition, debate and active participation in an interdisciplinary program.
During the course the children will have the opportunity to know, manipulate and experiment actively and collectively the musical use of their bodies, voices and instruments that are provided by the school, acquiring and developing a range of skills for musical training.
For students interested in learning to play an instrument, we offer a course for the violin at three levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced

Plants Workshops

Plants Workshops are a set of more than 20 workshops focused around awareness of the plant world with art as the angle of attack.

In the workshops, students will construct individual and/or collective objects, follow recipes with fun tastings, plant interventions, games teaching various techniques of gardening, and do-it-yourself projects.
Students will “naturally” build a respect of the environment by using their 5 senses to explore water, plants, leaves, flowers, fruits, and vegetables.

The Plants Workshops provide a playful way to develop inventiveness and creativity.

The workshops are given by the filmmaker and visual artist Oranne Mounition.

Schedule: Wednesday 14h-17h

Ages: from 5 to 12 years

Chinese Class

EIM organizes Chinese courses for both beginners and those who have previously begun Chinese. These courses can also be arranged in private sessions.

Clarinet and saxophone

My name is Dr Tom Jackson (PhD), a music teacher who is available to provide lessons for clarinet and saxophone study. Lessons will be on Wednesday afternoons and primarily in the English language. Students can be taught individually or in small groups for one hour or 30 minute sessions. I have previously taught at The City of London Boys School, the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and I am a sessional lecturer at Canterbury Christ Church University. My lessons are tailored around the needs of each student, bringing in music from the classical and jazz traditions. Together we can work towards exams or for enjoyment. I look forward to hearing from any interested students.
