What do scientists do?

Today, MYP 1 students were learning about the scientific method as part of the unit 'what do scientists do?'. They were learning how to ask a scientific question from observations, formulate a hypothesis, design and conduct an experiment, thinking about independent, control and dependent variables, analyze the results and draw conclusions. To do this, Mr. Cutting gave the question: 'how strong is an egg - does it matter if it is upright or on its side?' It turned out to be quite a messy experiment! The students had fun and developed critical thinking skills and some certainly practiced being a risk-taker during the process.
